Dr Andreas Tarnutzer
I studied geography and economics at the University of Zurich. My MSc Thesis analysed the socio-economic effects of road construction in Nepal; my PhD Thesis examined economic and social change processes in urban institutions in Indonesia.
After graduating, I specialised in development related topics, first as research and teaching assistant and later as lecturer at the Institute of Geography, University of Zurich. In 1995, I established DRP as consultancy company under Swiss law.
My professional languages are English, Français, Español, and Deutsch.
Programme and Project Cycle Management (PCM)PCM related consultancies constitute the core of my business. I have extensive experience in leading teams through all PCM steps — from fact-finding to design, planning and tendering, as well as state-of-the-art project reviews and evaluations. I have gained substantial practical expertise in donor harmonisation through a wide range of multi-donor project mandates. I have broad experience in working in post-crisis and post-conflict situations.

Private Sector Development (PSD)In PSD, I have specialised in inclusive Market Systems Development (MSD) approaches. This includes expertise in applying the Standard for Monitoring and Results Measurement of the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED). I have wide experience in different approaches to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise promotion, as well as in Value Chain Development, in particular in rural markets.
